these days : at present.

M : It must be difficult.

must : expressing an opinion about something that is logically very likely.
difficult : needing much effort or skill to accomplish, deal with, or understand.

W : It’s hard to leave work at a reasonable hour.

hard : requiring a great deal of endurance or effort.
leave : go away from.
reasonable : as much as is appropriate or fair; moderate.

M : Yes. We’ve had so many projects lately.

project : an individual or collaborative enterprise that is carefully planned and designed to achieve a particular aim.
lately : recently; not long ago.

W : I hope they forgive me for being away.

forgive : stop feeling angry or resentful toward (someone) for an offense, flaw, or mistake.
away : to or at a distance from a particular place, person, or thing.

M : Oh, I’m sure they love you no matter what.

sure : confident in what one thinks or knows; having no doubt that one is right.
no matter what : regardless of.
"no matter what the government calls them, they are cuts"

W : I am lucky to have such understanding kids.

lucky : having, bringing, or resulting from good luck.
such : to so high a degree; so great (often used to emphasize a quality).
understanding : the ability to understand something; comprehension.
