Son : Dad, can I go to work with you for a couple of hours?
a couple : A couple is literally two; but it is often used as in the neighborhood of two.
neighborhood : the area surrounding a particular place, person, or object
Dad : Well, my boss isn’t very kid-friendly.
boss : a person in charge of a worker or organization
kid-friendly :something has special features that parents and children like
Son : I promise I will be quiet.
promise : assure someone that one will definitely do, give, or arrange something; undertake or declare that something will happen
quiet : making little or no noise
Dad : Weren’t you planning to hang out at Aunt Pam’s house?
plan : an intention or decision about what one is going to do
hang out : spend time relaxing or enjoying oneself
Aunt : the sister of one's father or mother or the wife of one's uncle
Son : I was, but I didn’t know one important thing.
know : be aware of through observation, inquiry, or information
important : of great significance or value; likely to have a profound effect on success, survival, or well-being
Dad : What is that?
Son : She doesn’t have Wi-Fi at her house.
Wi-Fi: a facility allowing computers, smartphones, or other devices to connect to the Internet or communicate with one another wirelessly within a particular area
Dad : Oh my goodness.
goodness : (idiomatic, US, Canada) Used to express surprise, shock, or amazement.
