While driving
I should have asked for directions.
(in car driving somewhere)
M : Are you sure we didn’t go too far?
- go too far : exceed the limits of what is reasonable or acceptable.
W : Um..., I don’t recognize this part of town at all.
- recognize : identify (someone or something) from having encountered them before; know again.
M : Do you want me to turn around?
- around : move so as to face in the opposite direction
W : I think that’s probably a good idea.
-probably : almost certainly; as far as one knows or can tell.
M : I was sure it was down this road.
W : John, this road looks like every other road.
-every other : each second in a series; each alternate.
M : I should have asked for directions.
- should have p.p : to regret about a past activity
- ask for : to try to obtain by requesting
W : That’s what I told you when we got in the car.
