W : Did you see my car keys?
see : perceive with the eyes; discern visually.
discern : perceive or recognize (something).
key : a small piece of shaped metal with incisions cut to fit the wards of a particular lock, and that is inserted into a lock and turned to open or close it.
M : No, I haven’t seen them all day.
seen : past participle of see1.
day : a period of twenty-four hours as a unit of time, reckoned from one midnight to the next, corresponding to a rotation of the earth on its axis.
W : I can’t find them anywhere.
anywhere : any place.
M : Did you look in your jacket pocket?
look : direct one's gaze toward someone or something or in a specified direction.
jacket : an outer garment extending either to the waist or the hips, typically having sleeves and a fastening down the front.
pocket : a small bag sewn into or on clothing so as to form part of it, used for carrying small articles.
W : Yes, that’s the first place I looked.
place : a particular position or point in space.
M : Maybe you left them in the car.
Maybe : perhaps; possibly.
left : past and past participle of leave.
leave : go away from.
W : I never thought of that.
never : at no time in the past or future; on no occasion; not ever.
thought : past and past participle of think.
M : I’ve done that plenty of times.
plenty : a large or sufficient amount or quantity; more than enough.
W : I hope I didn’t lock them in the car.
hope : want something to happen or be the case.
lock : fasten or secure (something) with a lock.
